It’s a sombre mood in Jinja and the National Unity platform after the death of seasoned politician Josephine Nambooze who passed on yesterday at the Jinja regional referral hospital.
A teacher by profession, Nambooze spent most of her political life in the Democratic Party and has been contesting to represent Jinja district as a women member of parliament but non of her bids has been successful since 2011.
She contested against the late Ruth Tuma, Nabirye Agnes, Loy Katali. She was a bold politician who stood for the well being of others regardless of their political groupings.
Nambooze succumbed to chest pain related issues but we’ve also been reliably informed that she got involved in two separate accidents and this might have caused her such problems that led to her death.

Despite being a Staunch Democratic Party member, Josephine Nambooze briefly crossed to the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) few years ago but she last month crossed th Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform on 14th July along side other politicians like former Jinja east legislator Paul Mwiru.
She’s to be laid to rest on Saturday in Mpigi district in Central Uganda but tentative burial programs include a public viewing of the body at Kakindu Stadium in Jinja today then body will be taken to her home in Mpumudde where a vigil will be held.

A requiem Mass will be held for the deceased at Our Lady of Fatima tomorrow Friday and there after the body will be taken to Kakola village, Kakola Parish, Mpigi sub-county in Mpigi district where she will be laid to rest on 19th August 2023.
