Farmers practicing different forms of agriculture along the banks of River Nyagak in Akaa and Jangokoro sub-counties in Zombo district are counting losses after heavy downpours of 2nd august 2023 resulted into flooding of River Nyagak accompanied by cyclones and washed off the Nyagak paa -kiru bridge that connects the sub-counties of Akaa and Jangokoro cutting off connectivity between the two communities not only limited to that but also ravaged crops such as maize, cassava and sugar canes on acreages of land in close proximity to the river banks hence looming food insecurity for the affected communities.
The aid deserving community members expressed anxiety about similar ravaging effects of the floods along the banks of river Nyagak that stretches as far as Wadelai in madi-Okollo district amidst the appeal for adaptive measures to counter such natural calamities.
According to the narrative of eye witness only identified as Mr. Emmanuel , “the washed bridge was in the pipeline for rehabilitation works by the community members but now it’s washed away and the river bank erosion and the cyclone has created a gap of about 200 meters now filled with water”
Mr. Oyullu James , LC5 chairperson of Zombo district, swiftly on a social media platform tasked the technical staffs to follow up and report the incident,” I am still traveling back to Zombo but I have informed our technical staff to follow up and immediately report to the DDMC ” said Oyullu on Zombo Mwa ,a social media platform.

Zombo district district comprises of numerous hilly relief features and broad valleys with water streams where crops are always planted in different seasons that in the event of flooding barely no crop is salvaged.
