We earlier reported that the Forum for Democratic Party National Chairman was set to address the media today at 10am. however, upon arrival he was denied entry as the party headquarters were under heavy security by a gang of youths who later allowed him through the small gate.
His driver and car didn’t make it inside the party headquarters as journalists remained stranded outside and were also denied entry but faced the wrath of these angry youths guarding the FDC party headquarters after they descended on them and beat them. Some had their phones confiscated and others were assaulted and moved away with injuries.
While peeping through the fence, the national party chairman Birigwa informed journalists that Nandala Mafabi had denied him chance to exit the party headquarters and it was only him (Nandala) with the last word whether he goes back home or not. While addressing the media at parliament, FDC legislators say Birigwa’s phones were confiscated by the top bosses.
Despite calls from party members to have the chairman released from the party headquarters, it all fell on deaf ears until a weird way was hatched to get Birigwa out of the FDC party headquarters in Najjanankumbi. The respectable Ambassador Wasswa Birigwa was helped by another group of FDC youth members and only jumped over the party fence to be able to go home.
This has caused mixed reactions from Ugandan who have wondered how the FDC woes and scuffles are getting nasty. Following Ssemuju’s consultative meeting at Nsambya sharing hall on Monday where they accused the party president and secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi of running the party like their family business. They also accuse them of getting money from undisclosed source which they contend it was sourced from president Museveni during the 2021 general elections.

Despite being pressed hard to reveal the source, Nandala Mafabi and Patrick Oboi Amuriat during the press conference they convened yesterday vowed come shine, come rain never to reveal who gave them the controversial Shs7 billion which is dividing the party into factions and a possible move away like it was the case when Mugisha Muntu chose peace to quit the party to form his own Alliance for National Transformation.
But hinting on the issue, Patrick Oboi Amuriat claimed they sourced money from different traders in Kampala and others in NRM who asked not to be named. But according to Amuriat, this money was delivered by the then FDC deputy party president for central Uganda Joyce Ssebugwawo who later crossed to NRM and was appointed a junior minister for ICT in Museveni’s government.
