BUKWO: Authorities in Bukwo district have closed Amanang senior secondary school after students and community members went on protest against the transfer of the new headmaster to the school
Amanang SS which is one of the highly populated schools in Bukwo district with an enrollment of over 1,400 was being managed by Mr.Geoffrey Kiplangat, the deputy headteacher but caretaking after the substantive headmaster retired last year. They rejected Mr.James Kabila who was moved from Kabei SS to Amanang SS
The students who spoke to this website say the administration of Mr. Kiplangat was satisfying everyone including their parents.
“Although he’s not substantive headmaster but this man has managed to put the school on record, discipline among the students and teachers is 100%, so bringing another headmaster will again disorganize the smooth running of the school”-said one of the students.

Peter Chebet one of the parents says they will never allow any headteacher to be brought to Amanang saying the ministry should respect the demand of the public.
“I know church of Uganda is the founder of this school but they respect our demand also otherwise if they don’t respect we shall de-campaign this school and it remains empty”-he said.
Mr. Fred Twala Soukoton the district education officer Bukwo says they have decided to close down the school to allow the school board of governors to sit today on Monday and iron out the issues at hand.
“We decided to close the school to avoid destruction of properties by students”-said Soukoton
