The race had three candidates NRM’s Mary Akol, FDC’s Oita Sam Odeke and Lokwiisk Ebukalin but the Forum for Democratic Change in a a release to the media signed by president Patrick Oboi Amuriat withdrew it’s candidate when elections had kicked off sighting electoral fraud, theft and connivance of the ruling party with security organs.
FDC claimed that by 7:30am, ballot boxes were already filled to the brim with pre-ticked ballots papers at several polling stations around the district which according to FDC were ticked from the Central police station of Bukedea and from some schools.

Despite NRM winning an election which was largely seen as one of those much contested and full of irregularities after the Soroti east by-election, many say NRM is a bigger party which shouldn’t be engaging in electoral fraud and should instead be hand picking candidates and take them for swearing in than opening the race on unlevelled grounds where electoral commission and security act in favor of the ruling NRM.
When Captain Mike Mukula announced that he was able to convince the FDC candidate to cross to NRM, it left many wondering how this was made possible and it left many questions than answers despite posting photos of himself and Oita Odeke clad in NRM yellow colored shirts.
In a turn of events however, Oita Sam Odeke has come out to narrate his side of the story rubbishing Mukula’s claims that he had crossed to NRM, he says it’s total malice to tarnish his image and propaganda to water down their efforts to rejuvenate the FDC party in Bukedea. Something which the public thinks might have been a ‘deal gone bad’ and he took a second thought.
Odek in a letter making rounds on social media recounts events from Bukedea when a friend called to promise him a job, to Mbale and to Kampala-Bugoloobi at Mike Mukula’s home and later dumped in Mutungo unconscious.
“I was called by a friend at around 10:00am Tuesday this week, by one Joseph Okoboi at IUIU Mbale that he had got me a job. He told me since campaigns are over I had to get a job which he had secured for me. He told me to come to Nakawa where he was and since I don’t have transport he said his friends were around Mbale and would give me a lift. I was picked from IUIU by 3 guys in black Xtrail car and brought me to Bugolobi. I realized that I was in Hon. Mike Mukula’s Home where Hon. Mukula was and no big talk was there since Mukula was busy, he told those guys to take me to rest till morning Wednesday. I was beaten and dumped to Mutungo (Twins Center). I had no access to my phones till around midnight. I realized I was all over social media. I am still FDC member and I am coming as LC V candidate come 2026 as FDC flag bearer”-wrote Odeke in a press release.
Hon Oita however doesn’t point out whether he reported the matter to police or he just walked back home after realizing he was in a wrong address. Police in Kampala is also yet to comment whether some one like Odeke was found in Mutungo (Twins Centre) as he has stated in his statement.
