A man in his 30s who appeared at the National Unity Platform offices weeks ago with grave burn injuries in his chest has twisted his tongue and recounting his ordeal of how he was tortured and later dumped by the roadside.
Mwesigwa Eric while at the NUP offices revealed that he was abducted by gun wielding men who were driving the famous ‘Drone’ car and later thrown into a den of mistreatment and tortured by what he said were men in Uniform belonging to the army’s Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) has changed his tone and pointing blame at Bobi Wine and his National Unity Platform.

According to Mwesigwa, who was also paraded at the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Mbuya at a presser sanctioned by the Army’s communication department headed by spokesperson Brig. Felix Kulayije now says he was used by NUP to be mistreated and promised to be given Shs50 million.
Him and his brother Joseph Kaddu further accuse the National Unity Platform General Secretary David Lewis Rubongoya of promising him cash to malign the image of the army.
He however says, the NUP leadership has abandoned him and failed to fulfill the pledge of UGX50 million hence forcing him to change his statement to reveal the truth. He also accuses NUP of owning drones and being behind the abductions in the city and the surrounding areas.
His accusations and counter accusations have left every one with unanswered questions of why the presser was held at the Army headquarters, why he reported the same to the Uganda Human Rights Commission and even opened up a case with police and the courts of law.
Eric Mwesigwa, whom NUP alleged was tortured by CMI, has confessed that it was a lie. He was paid by NUP to malign Gvt. Now this explains why @NUP_Ug never takes these alleged torture victims to the police or UHRC because they fear their lies being uncovered. pic.twitter.com/RcpVsSjw3M

Well, he is not the first person to change his statements, some time before the 2021 general elections, NUP founder Kibalama accused the army of abducting him and later trained him to lie against Bobi Wine, so we can’t rule out a repeat of the same. Kamwokya based NUP is yet to issue a statement on the same.
