Museveni top Minister whose mother, brother and nephew were nabbed with OPM branded iron sheets meant for the people of Karamoja is requesting for forgiveness from Ugandans especially those in Karamoja who have cursed her since the scandal came to lime light.
Dr Mary Goreti Kitutu the minister for Karamoja is on her knees seeking for a second chance and requesting whoever was hurt by the diversion of iron sheets meant for the people of Karamoja to her own Manafwa district to find space in their hearts and forgive her.
Among the ministers facing the fire of the deal gone bad of the iron sheets, Kitutu has received more condemnation since her ministry docket is so vulnerable depending on the duty station as government struggles to improve the living standards of the people from the Karamoja region.

In an apology apology seen by this publication to the committee of parliament on presidential affairs which is investigating the iron sheets scandal, Kitutu says it was without guidance that some iron sheets meant for the people of Karamoja ended up in other people’s compounds due to requests.
Kitutu further says the issue might have been caused by an oversight which has been solved and it will never happen again in the future.
She also regrets any inconveniences and embarrassments caused and re-affirms her unwavering commitment to serving the people of Uganda and the ministry of karamoja.
Her statement comes at the height of this mabaati scandal that has swept in several ministers with others claiming they requested the iron sheets to respond to disasters in their areas while others like Speaker Anita Among and Matia Kasaija say they just saw the iron sheets and decided to give them out to schools.
Minister Kitutu has been on the receiving end now for three weeks and the Karamoja parliamentary caucus has since kicked off with the process to censure her the same way parliament did to Namuganza who still enjoy her ministerial position without fear or favor but with flavor with her boss Museveni keeping silent.

Committee
This statement is being made in my capacity as Minister for Karamoja Affairs on the matter of iron sheets procured under my Ministry. Without proper guidance, some iron sheets meant for Karamoja Region were given outside the region in response to requests. This could have been an oversight but now that guidance has been given, this will not
recur.
Any inconveniences and embarrassments caused is highly regretted
I will also present a separate statement to H.E. the President and the entire
Executive.
My commitment to serving Uganda as a whole and the Ministry of Karamoja Affairs in particular is unwavering.
Honourable Chairperson and Honourable Colleagues, I pray that you and all Ugandans accept my sincere apology.
