AMUDAT: The development agenda that Hon Betty Chelain Louke had set to change the lives of the people of Amudat district in Karamoja region has been frustrated by the continuous cattle rustling between the Pian of Nabilatuk and Nakapiripirit district and the Pokot pastoralists of Amudat district.
After swearing in as woman member of parliament for Amudat, Hon Betty laid down some key areas to lobby for the people of her district to better their lives and living conditions.
Among these included health, education and agriculture. However, there’s no single time the woman member of parliament has sat down to implement the three key issues in Amudat due to cattle theft.

This website has learnt that the legislator is always in the bush with her electorates following up stolen cattle, meeting with the security forces to see how to recover the animals.
“Its really stressing me up and i can’t give up, i have to do whatever it takes to save the livestock of my people,” she told this publication
Chelain has also attacked the security for wrongfully rounding up the animals of the pokot even when they have not gone for any raid.
“Our forces also need to style up and change the mode of their operations, right now they are many Pokot animals being kept by the army in Moruita, Lopei in Napak district after they were recovered but the forces are not about to hand over the cows to the Pokot,”Chelain lamented
Besides this Amudat women legislator, many other leaders especially the district chairpersons of Karamoja have also not enjoyed their offices due to isolated cases of animal theft.
