In other stories, Soroti high court has dismissed with costs an election petition arising from the Soroti East by election filed by FDC strong man Moses Okia Atan against Herbert Edmund Ariko.
NRM’s Ariko who is the former personal assistant to the Bekedea Woman member of parliament and also speaker Anita Among won the highly contested and controversial Soroti East by election in July with 9407 votes followed by Moses Atan who garnered 8771 votes.

Following the by election which was marred with violence and arrests of almost the entire campaign team of FDC’s Moses Atan, he rejected the results petitioned the Soroti high court seeking to overturn the election.
Reading the ruling today, high court judge Musa Sekaana says Ariko failed to produce convincing evidence that the election was marred with irregularities and violence and therefore dismissed the petitioned with costs.
We are yet to establish whether the petitioner will proceed to the court of appeal in Kampala or let it go and wait for the next general elections.
