KARAMOJA:A group of Karimojong elders have asked President Museveni to consider in his next refilling to appoint any of their Karimojong sons and duaghters as ministers to sit in in cabinet table since the region has always voted for him.
Speaking to this website on Tuesday several of the elders claim although president Museveni has appointed three Karimojong as ministers but all of them are junior ministers who do not have a louder voice to present challenges affecting the region.
The three ministers include the member of parliament for Chakwi Peter Lokeris Aimat state minister for mineral energy, Woman member of parliament for Nakapiripirit Esther Anyakun state minister for disaster and preparedness and woman member of parliament for Karenga district Rose Lily Akello state minister for ethics and integrity.

According to the study by this website the presidential and parliamentary results for the 2021 general elections, Karamoja region voted for President Museveni (NRM) by up to 97%.
“We first want to thank Museveni for appointing our sons Mr. Peter Lokeris as state Minister for Minerals, Esthet Anyakun and Rose Lily Akello but we are not seeing the impact of their appointment because most of them don’t attend cabinet”-says Koryang
While Timothy Koryang an other elder explains that Karamoja region has missed a lot on the national cake simply because whatever is being discussed at cabinet no body represents Karamoja on the cabinet table.
“It’s good to have someone born in Karamoja to be in the discussion room for the issues affecting Karamoja region because him or her knows the pain that Karamoja families go through and they can make proper representation,” he further states
Further, John Lokut another elder said they feel cheated in away that even heading Karamoja ministry is none Karimojong whom he says doesn’t feel the challenges people of Karamoja go through.
Karamoja region has two minister Mary Goreti Kitutu full minister and Agnes Nandutu state minister for Karamoja affairs who are all from Bugisu region.
