President Yoweri has met the ousted Uganda Medical association kneeling president Dr Samuel Odongo Oledo who has been on the receiving end for kneeling before him and endorsing his presidency beyond 2026.

Oledo was ousted in an extra ordinary meeting convened by the association he leads on sunday last week where they all decided in unison to vote out Dr Oledo who was replaced by Dr Edith Nakku who was his vice president. Besides the ousting, Oledo was also banned from the association for four years.

Following plans to oust him, Oledo ran petitioned the high court insisting he should not be ousted and that kneeling before president Museveni is not a sin, not criminal and does not in any way contradict with his position as the president of medical professionals in Uganda. He also further contends that the process leading to his ousting and suspension did not follow the law.

Justice Musa Sekana is on Thursday expected to make a ruling via email according to Oledo’s lawyer Elvis Ssemuyaya of Unicas advocates. Oledo’s lawyers says they’re seeking to reverse UMA’s decision taken against his client in the extra ordinary meeting held last Sunday.

According to president Museveni, he met Oledo along side his colleagues and they discussed a lot of deals including pertaining to deployment of doctors, recruitment of workers and improvement of the health sector. They also discussed a big deal of funding the health worker’s SACCO to improve their livelihoods.

Reliably Dr Oledo is a Museveni supporter and an NRM diehard who even contested for vice chairperson in the last NRM CEC elections and this this is the reason he said while responding to the kneeling incident, he did it on his own not in the position of Uganda Medical Association president.
