The family of the Late Speaker of parliament Jacob Oulanyah has hinted on the possibility of retaining the position that their beloved one was holding as the legislator for Omollo county in Omollo District which he had represented well since 2001 and only lost one term of 2006-2011 before.
After loosing his seat in 2006 to represent Omollo County, Olanyah crossed from NRM to UPC and would later become a darling in his new political home, when he bounced back in 2011, he was Deputy speaker for 10 years under Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
However, following his demise, his family has hinted on fronting Oulanyah’s close relative in the by-election to replace him as Member of parliament for Omollo county. While speaking to NTV Uganda, Francis Emona who is Oulanyah’s young brother says himself he hates politics but revealed that in case of by elections the family has many people whom they can front.
“I hate politics and wouldn’t want to be one but we have capable people, my son is a very good politician and many young boys there who can take up the position”- Said Oulanyah’s brother Francis Emona
