A total of four Ministers and 9 Members of Parliament including the Deputy Speaker, Anita Among, expressed their interest in the position of the Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday.
Now the as it stands, the number of people who have expressed interest in taking over the speakership mantle has dropped from 13 to 12.
The candidature of the above position is subjected to the approval from the NRM CEC meeting that’s set to sit today.
The position of the Speaker felt vacant after the death of Jacob Oulanyah in Seattle, United States this past Sunday.
The law says the first business in Parliament after the position falling vacant is the election of the new Speaker.
