The French General of Generals who was somewhat comparable to Alexander the Great, once said, at the prime of his arrogance and pride that he was France and France was him, and that he was the embodiment of France’s sovereignty.
But he also said something that revealed that despite being a General that was feared by all and sundry, there was something he feared and respected: the Pen. He said:”I would rather be attacked by 1000 men with guns than one man with a pen”.

In other words he admitted internally and outwardly the pen and men of letters were mightier than him.
He knew the gun shutters the body but the pen only transforms the brain with knowledge and wisdom. Men of military might disappear, like he did but the knowledge and wisdom recorded by the pen lingers on through generations.
In other words, the gun is momentary. The pen and what it does is for all seasons.
My big brother @cobbo3 you remember you told me in 1998 in Muyenga that the pen was greater than the sword. But now I have more followers than you on Twitter. So maybe the sword is actually greater than the pen.

It is the pen which records the injustices and violations of human rights of the mighty and hands them over to the next generation. If it was not the pen we would not know about the excesses of men like Stalin of the defunct Soviet Union and of Mao Tse Tung of China.
Those they brutalized are no longer on Earth but their brutal actions were well recorded by the pen, and are what we remember more than whatever good they did. The bad recorded is their legacy.
We should value the civility and brains of humanity more than the muscles of men.
If it was not the pen we would not be having the Bible and the Qur’an. Whatever God spoke by way of his Great Prophets and Jesus Christ would have vanished in thin air if it had not been recorded.
For God and My Country.
