Coach Peter Onen has taken over at Gaddafi Football Club as the new head coach on a one year renewable contract. The 43 year old tactician has replaced Abu Mubarak Wamboya.
“I am so greatfull to be welcomed here at Gaddafi FC. My expectation has always been coming back in the topflight league,” he said
The Soldier Boys have experienced a burdensome start to life in Uganda Premier League as the club has managed only five points in as many games. They currently rank 9th on the log and their new coach said he only targets avoiding the drop.
“My target is to make sure the team remains consistent in the league.”
“We are going to blend our football according to the situation. We shall work together with collective effort for us to come up with good performance.”
Coach Onen, formerly at BUL FC, Uganda Cubs and Gulu United, is the fourth trainer to head reigns at the Jinja situated team in the last one and half years.
Hassan Zungu and Wamboya will serve as his first and second assistant coach respectively.
Asked if retaining Wamboya on the club technical wing won’t antagonise the new coach, face of their chief executive office – Paul Mukembo brushed aside fears of any potential malice.

“Onen first met members of the technical bench. If he was not fine with it then he would have shown it. He has the experience, he is a leader and not only a coach, but a manager too. He will try to fix it.” he said
Gaddafi has one win to show from their five outings and will next be in action against fellow UPL rookies Arua Hill SC at Gaddafi Arena before they march into their second Jinja derby with BUL FC nine days later.
