News reaching our desk indicate that the Forum for Democratic Change party headquarters in Najjanankumbi are under military siege ahead of the nomination of their party presidential aspirant Patrick Oboi Amuriat (POA).
Police and military is also reportedly arresting whoever is trying to access the premises and are being detained at Najjanankumbi police station.
This military siege follows FDC’s defiant calls to its members to come in big numbers to escort Patrick Oboi Amuriat to Kyambogo for nominations ahead of the 2021 general elections.
If Amuriat is successfully nominated, he will join the three general Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni, Henry Tumukunde Karuguku, Mugisha Muntu Greg who were nominated yesterday and NUP’s Bobi wine, DP’s Norbert Mao, Independent Candidates John Katumba, Nancy Kalembe Lindah, Joseph Kabuleta who are also set to be nominated today.
Kiira Municipality legislator Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda has also been arrested alongside several other members yet according to the FDC, there was going to be the launch of the manifesto by their candidate and Rtd Col Dr Kiiza Besigye who is four-time presidential candidate was also going to speak to the party members but now the party headquarters are under siege.
There’s tension is already brewing in the city under heavy deployment and any one putting on red beret is also being arrested.
