Kyadondo East legislator and People power principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu was set to commence his country wide presidential consultations at Our Lady of Good Counsel in Gayaza following a green light from the electoral commission.
However, he was arrested and currently detained at Nagalama police station after a scuffle that saw his supporters engage police in running battles with tear gas and live bullets. A yet to be identified officer was hit by a stray bullet and is currently nursing wounds. Police is yet to give a comment on the live bullets fired at protesters.
Last week, media was awash of claims that many hotels in Northern Uganda had been tipped not to host Bobi wine’s consultative meetings by security agencies despite police insisting the presidential hopeful has to hold his consultative meetings in closed venues.
