Jinja: In a groundbreaking move, the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (UHTTI) has forged a strategic partnership with Makerere University Business School (MUBS) to revolutionize tourism and hospitality education in the country.
In a meeting held on February 12, 2025, at the UHTTI campus in Jinja city, the two tourism and hospitality training powerhouses committed to developing a skilled workforce for Uganda’s burgeoning tourism sector through mutual co-operation in the areas of research, staff and students exchange as well as capacity building among other areas.
UHTTI Principal, Mr. Richard Kawere, emphasized the partnership’s significance:
“Our goal is to cultivate a professional and proficient human resource that will propel Uganda’s tourism industry to new heights.”
MUBS principal Prof. Moses Muhwezi commended the current developments at UHTTI and said the two institutions will greatly benefit from the partnership.
According to UHTTI’s publicist, Mr. Daniel Kazungu, this collaboration marks a significant milestone in the institute’s pursuit of excellence.
“We recognize MUBS’s research prowess and believe this partnership will propel UHTTI forward,” Kazungu said.
With this synergy, UHTTI and MUBS are poised to reshape Uganda’s tourism education landscape, fostering a new generation of skilled professionals equipped to drive the sector’s growth and success.
