In order to show his followers that he isn’t a corrupt journalist thriving on extortion, Kampala youtuber Dean Lubowa Saava on Saturday posted a video in which he named some of the mighty people in Uganda who offered him money and he refused.
He says that when he started airing stories showing governance problems at Kampala University, its owner Prof Badru Kateregga sent him emisaries with an offer of 25m so that he dis-circulates his videos depicting KU in bad light. He says that he refused the money because his motive is to expose wrongdoers, and not to make money.
Saava added that when he started broadcasting scandal stories about the electoral commission and other governmeng agencies, those involved offered him large sums of money which he refused to take up and stuck to his truth.
He added that when he released stuff about two MPs from Bunyoro having sex in a lodge in broad day light, the male legislagor who hails from Kibale offered him 20m but up to now he has refused to delete his video because he is committed to truthful journalism of exposing scandals as opposed to extortion.
He says that he has a long list of big people who have been offering him big money in order to cease fire and not release scandalous news about them. Saava is saying all this to show his followers that he is not the outlaw whose online content UCC recently ordered all telecom firms to block.
