Kawempe North legislator Muhammad Ssegirinya death remains a shocking scenario to his constituents, party members and the country at large. Most of those who knew and interacted with Ssegirinya before while he was still alive describe him as a down to earth person.
He rose through the political ranks of activism on the streets of Kampala to parliament where he used to stage protests in the previous years. He served as the Lord Councilor for Kawempe under the FDC party before becoming an MP on the NUP ticket in 2021.
In a video making rounds on social media, one of Ssegirinya’s wishes was for his family and mourners to thank Bobi Wine for enabling his rise to parliament and that Bobi Wine the head of NUP should speak for five good hours and should even be added more time if he has more to say.
However, while speaking at the Vigil held at their party headquarters of Makerere Kavule, Bobi Wine said that indeed Ssegirinya willed that he should speak for five hours but he’ll instead speak for one hour at all the five vigils of Ssegirinya but not five hours nonstop.
“Ssegirinya requested that i speak for five hours in case he died before me. I will speak for one hour at each of the mourning ceremonies to make it five hours requested by our late brother”-said Bobi Wine
