During a cabinet meeting last week, president Museveni furiously reacted to pleas by gender minister Betty Amongi who was defending the NSSF deal aimed at cheating the government.

And this bust up with the president must have excited minister Esther Anyakun who deputizes her at gender. Anyakun doesn’t like Amongi because she interferes in her docket and always gets suffocated as Amongi interferes in her docket and doesn’t delegate her any of the juicy assignments.

Using one of the ministers present, the NSSF delegation presented a proposal showing that top management, which Amongi supervises, was prepared to give 1.3trillions to be used to build offices for government ministries and departments at the Bwebajja campus. Museveni thinks this will save government 30bn per month in rent expenses.

The government is supposed to pay back this money to NSSF with an interest of 21 percent and it total 4.7trillions will be paid back. This annoyed Museveni who shut up those who were making the NSSF presentation.

Amongi and her friend Robinah Nabbanja tried to defend the NSSF thing, which made Museveni to become even more annoyed. The president shut up both of them and refused to be appeased by their promise to go back and review the deal and come up with less interest.

Saying he was tired of thieves who use government offices to commit government into very funny unpatriotic deals, the president threw out the whole thing and called it “stealing and broad day theft” of public funds.

Adding that plans by Amongi-supervised NSSF managers to rob his government were unacceptable, Museveni said that he is better off using direct government money to build the government campus.

He advised the finance ministry and the presidency secretary Hajji Yunnus Kakande to begin considering funding from other concessional sources from where government can borrow at the interest of 2-3%.

He assured Amongi and Nabbanja that even the SGR project isn’t going to be funded using such expensive credit as NSSF wants to charge. On that day, the controversial Amongi who supervises NSSF, left Entebbe state house the venue of the cabinet meeting with an egg on her face.
