Tired of endless summons and investigations by Uganda communications commission UCC, stinking rich Kampala youtuber Dean Lhbowa Saava has declared his own war on the regulator.
He has resorted to going personal on key UCC officials who are overseeing his disinformation and hate speech investigations file. He has singled out lawyer Med Kaggwa and the executive director Dr. GW Nyombi Thembo who earlier this month directed all the telecom companies to block access to Saava’s online media channels.
The commission says that Saava’s media broadcasting operations are illegal because he isn’t a licensed operator. In going personal hoping that such will intimidate the regulator to back off and let him be, Saava says that Med Kaggwa has no moral authority to investigate him because he and some SIU officers in 2019 shared 150m in order to shield killer squad members in Kampala by gagging and stopping the investigative series his Tv10 had been airing.
Saava claims that when he insisted and exposed all this, UCC bosses worked with SIU to try to arrest him. Which forced him to run to Speaker Kadaga who took him to the president. This is a mere claim by Saava whose veracity couldn’t be readily established.
Saava says that this 150m is the reason why Mutabaazi was fired from being the UCC executive director. He says he is going to similarly cause Nyombi and other UCC bosses to lose their jobs if the regulator doesn’t stop summoning and investigating him while standing in his way to promote disinformation and hate speech.
On Nyombi Thembo, Saava claims that the UCC executive director is too rich adding that there is no way the small salary he has been earning since becoming the Kasanda south MP in the year 2001, can account for all the commercial buildings he owns in Kampala and other places.
He says that if UCC doesn’t stop investigating and summoning him, he is going to be forced to expose Nyombi Thembo’s riches including pictures and videos of a luxurious hotel resort he owns in Seguku, Wakiso district.
