Mpuuga is still making headlines, this emanates from falling out with his party bosses for pocketing Shs500m which NUP deem illegal and contravenes with the core values of the party.
Last week was a theatre of counter accusations and pin pointing after the party shared a document which indicated that Mpuuga in a meeting convened on 28th Febraury 2024 attended by the Former Leader of opposition admitted to pocketing the said cash and also apologized but was strongly advised to step down as Commissioner of parliament.
When he was dropped as Leader of opposition on 22nd December 2023 and replaced by Joel Ssenyonyi, Bobi Wine deemed it fit to have Mpuuga still in a comfortable position and decided to appoint him Commissioner of parliament replacing Zaake who was booted in a famous parliamentary vote in early 2022.
However in his strong worded statement regarding the accusations of corruption, Mpuuga said the money which him and other three commissioners partitioned and scrambled like Nsenene is not illegal and it’s part of the privileges that await him as the former leader of opposition.
Now in a document shared by the party, a meeting was convened early this week on Monday to discuss the Mpuuga-Bobi Wine impasse. Despite being invited, he snubbed the said meeting which decided to recall him from the position should he not give a satisfactory statement in writing with in seven days.
“At it’s sitting held on 4th March, 2024 (to which you were invited but did not attend), the National Executive Committee considered the serious accusations against you and resolved to ask you to show cause in writing, why you should not be recalled from the Parliamentary Commission, to which the Party Seconded you as a member. you are requested to respond with in Seven (7) days from the date of receipt of this notice to enable the National Executive Committee take an appropriate decision”- reads part the notice signed by Dr Lina Zedriga Walu to as acting party president.
