Kadaga took a pie and accepted to be appointed as the 1st Deputy Prime Minister and also minister of East African Affairs. One would think that after all these years cruising in authority and power more so bein number three in the hierachy of Ugandan leadership, Kadaga would consider retiring.
You may also think, she’s the only woman with the qualifications to represent the people of Kamuli despite having an education scheme that has supported many girls to Universities to attain education.
Now, we won’t divulge much into whether she’s considering retiring or not. There’s this former Makerere Vice Chancelor and former 2016 presidential candidate Prof Venansius Baryamureeba who took a swipe at Kadaga and asked her to retire from active politics to concentrate on her health and retirement.
It all started when Kadaga posted of X formerly twitter that a certain group of students from the Law Development Centre, Lira campus paid her courtesy visit and she also promised to visit them soon.
“It was a pleasure to meet Mr Omwine ,The Guild President and other upcoming lawyers from the Law Development Center in Lira , will be visiting the. Later in the year”
This is when Baryamureeba took a swipe at the former speaker asking her to consider retiring and go home to enjoy the fruits of her labour and service to this great nation Uganda after seing her photo where the former Speaker looked frail and tired.
Rt. Hon. Kadaga, at this time in life, if I were you, I would retire on an island and enjoy the fruits of my labour. https://t.co/4tGljE9pfl

Known for taking no prisoner, Kadaga quickly replied reminding Baryamureeba how he also never retired from public life after loosing miserably in the 2016 general elections. In the elections Prof Baryamureeba who was a presidential candidate collected 52798 which represented 0.54% of the total votes counted by Eng Badiru Kigundu.
Prof Baryamureeba , you should have retired from public life after your miserable performance in the general elections https://t.co/QlgIZtRU6A

Her swipe at the former presidential candidate has elicited mixed reactions as netizens reminded her of how history will remember her as a speaker who presided over the removal of presidential age limit in 2017.
Prof Baryamureeba after the storm had settled, has posted clarifying what he meant when he suggested that Kadaga retires for health reasons to give way to the new blood to take the country forward. Saying President Museveni is remembered to have said if he knew Oulanyah was sick, he would’t have supported him for speakership.
I don't discriminate on the basis of age. I made the statement on Rt.Hon. @RebeccaKadagaUG need to retire solely on health grounds. Even Pres. @KagutaMuseveni stated that if he had known the health condition of the late Rt.Hon.Oulanyah he wouldn't have supported him to be Speaker
