As the country gears up to the exciting international summits this week and next week, many delegates have arrived in the country and are being taken first to where they will be sleeping there after they’re proceeding to the summit venue in Uganda’s capital Kampala under the theme The “Deepening Cooperation For Shared Global Affluence”

The country’s only international airport is experiencing huge incoming traffic as police advises those with outgoing flights to move earlier than planned as they’re several disruptions along the way due to diversions of traffic to allow the delegates move freely without any difficulty.

Several delegates have arrived at the Munyonyo Convention centre with over 40 presidents expected to grace the event. President Museveni is the host and will hold onto the NAM chairmanship until 2027 when the next host who will be announced in Kampala this week will take over.

NAM boasts of a whooping 120 membership  but with majority of countries from Africa, Asia, South America and Austria but with only two members from Europe including Azerbaijan where the 18th NAM summit took place from 25-26th October 2019.

According to Hon. John Mulimba, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, the summit will provide a unique opportunity for Uganda to be at the center of global affairs as well as support and promote the interests of developing countries.

“The vision for Uganda will be a stronger and united NAM that contributes to a better and stronger world for all,” Mulimba said.

Mulimba said the choice of the two themes was based on the fact that some issues had emerged worldwide, which require the engagement of group members.
