Uganda National Bureau of Standards UNBS has announced a number of jobs this new years where qualified candidates will compete to work for this government parastatal mandated with maintaining and enforcing quality goods on the market.
Among the juicy jobs announced include that of the Executive Director which was left behind by Dr David Livingstone Ebiru who fell in hot soup after being interdicted over corruption related matters.

Dr. Ebiru who openly confessed in July 2023 during COSASE interfaces to have parted with UGX100million to retain his position of Executive Director. According to Ebiru the Board Of Directors of UNBS forced him to cough that amount or else another person would take over the juicy job.
He would later go to parliament to withdraw his statement from the records which indeed he did, the office of the Inspectoral of Government (IGG) arrested Ebiru, briefly detained him and released him over the same. But IGG lost interest in the case and wrote to the court while withdrawing the case against Ebiru because they didn’t have sufficient evidence.
Ali Munira the public relations officer in the IGG’s office, said they withdrew the case because they lacked sufficient evidence to withstand the case in the Anti-corruption court.
That crime requires proof beyond reasonable doubt which we could not get at that time, And to make matters worse, he [Ebiru] went to parliament and withdrew the statement the following day, making it difficult for us to proceed”-she said
Ebiru replaced retired Ben Manyindo in 2021 but following the circus, Trade Minister Francis Mwebesa sacked him and On July 24th, he was replaced by his then Deputy Daniel Richard Makayi Nangalama who is serving in acting capacity.
