The association of former students of Warr Girls secondary school based in Zombo District has donated a total of 40 bags of cement , In a bid to boost work of the ongoing construction of capacious St Stephens Cathedral Goli, at the Headquarters of Church Of Uganda, Nebbi Diocese.
The ground breaking ceremony of The Capacious St Stephens Cathedral Goli, at the Headquarters of Church of Uganda Nebbi Diocese was done way back in 2018. The association handed over the donation after paying a visit to the Bishop of Nebbi church of Uganda over the weekend.
“Today Sunday the 14th January 2024, the O.G of Warr Girls paid a visit to the Bishop and cathedral. In their visit they came with support towards cathedral construction a total of 40 bags of cement. After they had a site visit at the cathedral construction” Church of Uganda, Nebbi Diocese said in a statement on their official Facebook page
The Diocese also encouraged other well-wishers to generously “contribute towards the church construction” The Bishop expressed happiness about the donation before taking the team for the site visit of the multi billion church structure, that it’s construction has been dragging for years.
The Bishop of Nebbi church of Uganda Rt. Rev Pons Ozelle Awinju who was enthroned in 2022, has made commitment to finish the expansive church building this year.
Last year whilst for a pastoral visit, The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Dr Stephen Kazimba Mugalu who encouraged Christians to donate vigorously towards the cathedral construction, also donated 50 bags of cement to aid the work.
In 2018, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni joined hundreds of guess at the Diocese to officiate Over the ground-breaking ceremony and fundraising for St Stephen’s Cathedral, Goli, Nebbi Diocese. The capacious church according to the Diocese is to have a 1,200 sitting capacity.
