The historical Busoga royal wedding of King Nadiope and Queen Jovia Mutesi went down successfully and peacefully in an event that commenced with the marriage vows at the Christ Cathedral Bugembe and later an executive reception at the King’s Palace of Igenge.
Attended by thousands especially from the church, cultural institutions and mostly government top shots. The president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had been invited, security was beefed up in Bugembe in the run up to the event and was set to appear but on last minute he delegated the vice president Jesca Alupo to represent him as he toured infrastructural developments in the pot holed Kampala city ahead of the Non Alliagned Movement Summit and G77 summits set for early next year.

Presenting contribution from the National Unity Platform to the Katukiro Josep Muvawala, Bobi Wine revealed that him and his team had been given invitations both publicly and in writing to attend the royal wedding. However, to every one’s surprise the Lion of Magere was a no show at the historial event held in Jinja city.
“I have called on the Prime Minister of Busoga Kingdom Dr. Joseph Muvawala to hand over our contribution towards preparations for the Kingdom’s forthcoming Royal Wedding. On 18th November 2023, His Majesty Kyabazinga Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope IV will walk Inhebantu Jovia Mutesi down the isle. I am honoured to be among the several guests invited to attend their royal celebration of love”-Bobi Wine posted on X formerly Twitter
However speaking at an event that took place at the newly unveiled NUP offices to remember over 50 people who were killed by the army and police on November 18th and 19th 2020 when Bobi Wine had been arrested in Luuka in the run-up to the 2021 general elections, Bobi Wine revealed how he was disinvited last minute not to appear at the royal wedding.
The Ghetto gladiator who was out of the country but hurriedly flew back to make sure not to miss the event and says he had even purchased a new suit which he would put on to attend the royal wedding but that he was stopped but reveals he will one day put on that suit while visiting Busoga some tie to come.
“The Katukiro of Busoga had invited me togeher with my team publicly as you all saw. I was in fact out of the country, but i made sure to be back home on November 17 at night to be able to attend the wedding, but at the very last minute i was informed that Mr. Museveni and his son and their security had put an order that i cannot be at the function. I missed it so bad, i had bought a brand new suit, but the next time i go to Busoga i will put it on”- Bobi Wine revealed
He however congratulated the Kyabzinga and Inebantu Jovia Mutesi on such an occasion for the successful wedding.
