Scorching Sunshine Leaves Kween Farmers With No Hope Of Harvesting

KWEEN: The expectations by many farmers in Ngenge sub county in Kween district to realize bumper harvests has vanished following the scorching sunshine that has already dried up crops in the gardens.

Bruce Cherop  one of the farmers  says he had hopes to harvest much maize but all his  hopes are lost after sunshine dried up his entire maize garden.

While Jona Yeko another farmer says more than 1,000 acres of maize plantation in Ngenge sub county have dried up.

“We last received rains mid-last month and up to now nothing has dropped”-says Yeko

Paul Lokol the district chairperson Nabilatuk district in Karamoja region says a similar situation has also happened in his district.

“There’s going to be a serious hunger again towards the end of this year because all the crops that people had hopes have dried up”-Lokol says
