MOROTO: President Museveni on Tuesday met the group of Karimojong elders said to be reformed warriors at his state house Entebbe where he asked the said youth to stop the tendency of cattle rustling, however, the faces of the said youth have been questioned by the real rustlers who have since accused some local leaders of taking their relatives and students at different universities and high schools to get brown envelopes from the president.

Longok Losia who handed over his gun last week said that’s the reason why most people will not stop rusttling animals because any project meant to benefit the rustlers is taken up by political leaders and their relatives.
According to Losia, that’s the reason as to why even their political leaders are not spared by armed rustlers when they meet at the road block and ambushes.
“I have participated in rustling for more than 15years now and I have surrendered but ever since I surrendered i haven’t got even a single goat but instead goats are received by the relatives of local leaders get them”-Losia says
Lemapus another rustler says if the people who met president Museveni are real warriors then raiding in Karamoja will stop but if they are not, rustling will not stop.
“There’s something driving us into cattle rustling which government has failed to address instead even the president is being misled by the fortune seekers”-says Lema
According to Lemapus, the leaders and some security officials in Karamoja have prevented the real rustlers from meeting the president due to reasons know to themselves.
“Last time again Gen Salem Saleh also instead of meeting the real rustlers, he met with local leaders who don’t even reach to the rustlers in their hideouts”-Lemapus revealed.
