In the news this morning, police have arrested opposition women representatives who were protesting by matching to internal affairs ministry Jinja road to deliver their petition on the brutality of police and other security agencies.
Opposition women representatives have been complaining of brutality meted against them by police and other security agencies when they tried to organizing women’s day preparations.
Clad in black gomesi, these were roughed up and bundled into police pickups as they tried to match from parliament.

This happened in Soroti, it happened in Mityana, Buvuma districts among other places and the latest being Buvuma district representative Hon Suzan Mugabi who was beaten to pulp by police when she organized a women’s day celebration.
Police has since summoned 11 police officers including the DPC of Buvuma district and will face the Police Standard Unity for disciplinary actions. Minister for presidency Milly Babirye Babalanda has also summoned RDCs accused of ordering for assault of opposition women representatives.
To the contrary police uses excess force with live bullets, kibooko, tear gas, arbitrary arrests of opposition functions but those organized by NRM politicians go uninterrupted.
