The said letter is addressed to the minister of Justice and constitutional affairs Norbert Mao and was copied to the Bank of Uganda, parliament and the Attorney General as well noting that going by what Museveni has done for this country, he can be rewarded by having portrait indicated on Ugandan currency.

However, for Majambere’s suggestion to work, an amendment has to be made to Article 21 of the Bank of Uganda Act which prohibits any design or portrait of a living person or any political symbol or word on it’s bank note.

Article 21 Of The Bank Of Uganda Act 2000 Which Bars The Bank From Putting a Photo of a living person on The Bank Note or Coin

“We wish to note that our continued celebrations, enjoyments of democratic freedoms, peace, security and social economic transformations of this country Uganda which has been brought by President Museveni’s wise leadership and there is no other meaningful way we can show our gratitude to him unless we amend that article 21 and have his portrait adopted on our Uganda currency note”-reads part of Majambere’s letter

His suggestion comes at the backdrop of almost one year since the governor Bank of Uganda Prof Tumusiime Emmanuel Mutebire died and Museveni has never appointed a person to his position despite calls and demands from all corners of political strides.

But as it has always been to several previous amendments which start as a talk of town but later matures into serious deals that make it to the floor of parliament and eventually passed, signed into law by the president, so this too shall come to pass if urgently needed.
