Stealing From The Dead, Pader CAO Solicits Cash For Oulanyah Burial

Yesterday news made headlines how government had earmarked Shs2.5 Billion to cater for the burial of fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanyah who rested 10 days ago in the US where he had been airlifted for specialized medication on recommendation by his personal doctors at Mulago and Nakasero hospitals.

The 2.5b is had been distributed as follows A plus-226m, Security-158.5m, Finance Committee 248.7m, burial day 1.1b, Acholi MPs 312.9m, fuel-124m but was later trimmed to UGX1.8b by the finance ministry and a supplementary was tabled before parliament to be able to handle the burial expenses of the fallen speaker.

Now as government is looking for cash to take care of the burial, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Pader district in Northern Uganda is drying the vaults of sub-counties and town councils to contribute towards the burial whose expense has already been ear marked by government.

According to a letter seen by this website addressed to town clerks, senior assistant secretaries and the entire Pader District local government, the Chief Administrative Officer Alex Chelimo has ordered town councils and sub Counties to contribute Ugshs 500,000 and Ugshs 300,000 respectively as a contribution towards the burial of the late speaker Jacob Oulanyah.
