News reaching our desk indicate that this morning the women representative in the 11th parliament Joyce Bagala has been thrown out of parliament by the high court in Mityana after a petition by the Minister of Lands Judith Nabakoba.
Joyce Bagala of Bobi Wine’s National Unity Platform bounced Minister Nabakooba hands down with a margin of 16,000 votes but she ran to court citing that Bagala, her agents connived with EC officials to execute a well planned and organized scheme, procure prohibited persons to vote, facilitate impersonation of voters, multiple voting by unauthorized persons, voting by unregistered persons.
Nabakooba also in her petition accused Joyce Bagala of intimidating her agents, invalidation of valid votes cast in her favor, obstruction of voters and giving voters pre-ticked ballot papers indicating the former NBS TV news anchor as the voted candidate.
It’s upon such grounds that the high court nullified Bagala’s election as the Mityana women representative and also ordered fresh elections. The former News manager at Next media won the elections after polling 64,305 votes
She becomes the second NUP Mp to be thrown out of parliament after Christine Ndiwalana of Bukomansimbi North was nullified due to lack of academic papers.
