National Unity Platform (NUP) the newly crowned leading opposition party by figures in parliament has revealed that once the invitation extended to them by the National Resistance movement (NRM) to attend Museveni’s swearing in, they will just make use of their dustbin and discard it according Joel Ssenyonyi the party’s spokesperson.
While addressing the media with updates leading to Museveni’s swearing-in, Luuka women legislator also minister for presidency Esther Mbayo revealed that as a peace loving party, NRM had extended invitations to their rivalries of FDC, NUP, DP, ANT and other opposition groups to come attend Museveni’s swearing-in slated for 12th May 2021.
President who has held power since 1986 is extending his rule to 40 years after being declared by the Byabakama electoral commission winner of the January 14th polls with 58.64% while his closest challenger Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine came 2nd with 34.83%.
Bobi wine ran to the supreme court challenging which he claimed was marred with wide spread vote rigging, ballot stuffing, voter bribery only to withdraw the case sighting bias in the Owiny Dolo led court.
Many opposition sympathizers have described Museveni’s invitation to opposition a mockery when hundreds of opposition supporters remain detained in unknown places.
"If it comes, we will look for where to discard it from."
