News reaching our desk indicate that the leading opposition political by numbers in parliament National Unity Platform has appointed it’s vice president in charge of Buganda and legislator for Nyendo-Mukungwe in the newly created Masaka City Hon. Mathias Mpuuga as the new leader of opposition.
Also appointed was Manjiya county legislator and vice president Eastern John Baptist Nambeshe as the opposition’s chief whip.

Mathias Mpuuga replaces FDC’s Betty Aol Ochan who replaced former Kasese women representative Winnie Kiiza while Nambeshe replaces FDC spokesperson and Kira municipality MP Ibrahim Semujju Nganda.
Also appointed were Jinja city’s women legislator Manjeri Kyebakutika as Deputy Chief Whip, Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake was appointed parliament commissioner while Busiro East MP Medard Lubega Segona was appointed chairperson of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) replacing Hon Nathan Nandala Mafabi .
NUP also appointed JEEMA’s president and Bugiri Municipalioty legislator Asuman Basalirwa Vice chairperson of the Public Accounts committee. Nakawa west MP Joel Ssenyonyi was appointed chairperson of COSASE while Amuru district women representative Ruth Akello was appointed Vice chairperson of COSASE.
Mukono Municipality Iron lady Betty Nambooze was appointed to head government Assurances committee while Kalungu west’s Joseph Gonzaga Sewungu will be vice chairperson of the same commission.
Hon Ojara Martic Mapenduzi of Bardge Layibi county in Gulu district was appointed to head the local governemts accounts committee and will be deputized by Nakaseke South legislator Paul Lutamaguzi . Others on the appointment list : Patrick Nsanba who was appointed to the Pan African Parliament and has already taken Oath in South Africa.
Busuju county MP David Kalwanga Lukyamuzi was appointed to be a representative at the Common Wealth Parliament Association, Flavia Nabagabe the women MP of Kasanda will be a representative at the Inter Parliamentary Union while Butambala women MP Aisha Kabanda will head the parliamentary pension fund.
