The presidential campaigns officially started yesterday with several candidates heading in different directions to solicit for votes across the country. Patrick Oboi Amuriat of FDC headed to his home of Teso and his former ally cum frenemy Mugisha Muntu started with Kampala.
Tibuhaburwa started from Luwero where he launched his liberation war almost 40 years ago, later in the afternoon NUP’s Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu headed for Pakwach amidst tear gas to disperse his supporters who thronged the roadsides to cheer him.
The others were Nancy Kalembe who was in Jinja, Katumba john was in Nakasongola and Joseph Kabuleta Kiiza was in Gulu and Day one was a success despite police running battles with the defiant supporters.
Happening now is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who stormed Pakwach past midnight for his maiden campaign rally. Despite the 200 people allowed in the Ministry of Health Covid-19 guidelines and the required Standard Operating Procedures, hundreds have stormed the venue and seems they have over-powered security.
Bobi wine is addressing the supporters as he makes his promises enshrined in his presidential manifesto to the masses who have come to grace his campaign rally and he has been able to get an Alur translator to make his message clear.
