Ugandan comedian Patrick Salvador has been at the centre of a twitterstorm after a clip of him using the word “genocide “in his comedy went viral. The clip went viral and it tasted sour to his fans especially those from Rwanda.
What started as simple joke about flight announcements in the different national airlines around east Africa where Salvador imitated a RwandaAir cabin crew speaking in Kinyarwanda, where he mentions Amafaranga (meaning RwandanFrancs) before he mentions Paul Kagame followed by more gibberish then the word “Genocide” boom throws him in hot soup.
First he vowed never to apologize for a crack joke gone bad but after Rwandans on Twitter and Whatsapp groups came out guns blazing asking him to apologize though some said he did not joke about genocide, that he just mentioned the word, the celebrated Stand Up comedian and man from Ombokolo Patrick Idring has finally apologized.
“I totally get it, this thread should have come a little earlier coz it’s civil, it’s well elaborate and I states the pain I caused and for that I sincerely apologize, but I won’t allow to be insulted and threatened for being human”- Tweeted Salvador
