An impressive new mural of Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been unveiled in Russia. The defensive stalwart is being saluted in all corners of Europe with this latest tribute to the Dutchman coming south of Moscow.

Russian artist Dmitriy Diaz has spray painted an impressive image of Van Dijk’s face onto a wall in the city of Tula. The incredible painting shows the Netherlands captain smiling in front of a red backdrop with the collar of his Liverpool shirt showing, with artist Dmitriy also pictured.

Last week, the Netherlands skipper was named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year. And he is currently the bookmakers’ favorite to win the Ballon-d’Or which is set to be announced later this year.

After helping Jurgen Klopp’s side to maximum points in the opening four Premier League fixtures, Van Dijk is now on international duty with Holland. Ronald Koeman’s side will face Germany on Friday in a Euro 2020 qualifier before taking on Estonia on Monday.
