On Wednesday, Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga drove to Kibibi Sub County headquarters in Butambala district where he presided over the launching of GROW project funds disbursement. Meant to emancipate women in private businesses, GROW is a multi-billion intervention funded by the GoU and World Bank. Dr. Aisha Ruth Kasolo is its national coordinator at whose invitation the Katikkiro came to preside over the event.
The event was attended by a lot of people including Buganda Kingdom CBS radio’s MD Michael Kawooya Mwebe, Katambala the area Kabaka County Chief, the Butambala RDC, the area MP Eriasa Mukiibi Sserunjogi, the LC5 Chairman and officials from CBS’ PEWOSA SACCO, into which the GROW project has invested up to Shs5bn for distribution or onward lending to Kabaka’s people in several Buganda region districts including Butambala.
In his speech, Mayiga thanked Aisha Kasolo for always being deliberate towards emancipating people from the Central region where she hails from while equally impacting Ugandans from other parts of Uganda.
He said he had observed Dr. Aisha Kasolo for many years and he is proud of the fact that in all the large projects the President has put her to be in charge of, she always set out to ensure that Kabaka’s people get to benefit besides Ugandans from other parts of the country.
A high-repute motivationa speaker, Dr. Aisha has over the years been involved in the motivation, skilling and empowerment of Ugandan youths and women. And this has been consistent in all the different capacities she has served in.
Mayiga commended her for insisting on the mobilization, reawakening and skilling of Kabaka’s people during the years she served as the Chairperson for the Directorate of Industrial Teaining (DIT), through which the GoU supported the skilling and certification of thousands of Ugandans.
Mayiga added that there are many things women and youths in Buganda benefited from that DIT certification program because of Dr. Aisha’s deliberate inclusive approach.
He also remnisced her impact on people through using her public service roles to amplify Kabaka’s government interventions such as Mwanyi Terimba and others aimed at amplifying tourism in the kingdom. She has always been an enthusiastic and relentless partner of the Kingdom.
Mayiga also referenced her partnership and support to the CBS PEWOSA SACCO initiative which has mobilized savings and turned tens of thousands of Kabaka’s people into self-reliant millionaires.
He also made reference to the selflessness, enthusiasm, energy and integrity with which corporate leader Dr. Aisha, a PhD-holding economist employed under Uganda Private Sector Foundation, always approaches public service roles assigned to her.
He was also proud of the fact that she is never ashamed of her kiganda heritage and being publicly associated with the Buganda Kingdom causes. He implored other public officials and corporate leaders to emulate Dr. Aisha’s approach. Local leaders thanked Dr. Aisha, the President and the Buganda Kingdom leadership for bringing for them the GROW project intervention.
