The Alur Kingdom has called on all candidates and supporters to keep campaigns peaceful as vote-seeking starts across the district.
In a press release issued on November 13, 2025, Kingdom Communication Director David Rupiny said the Kingdom wants “peace and calm among contestants, voters, and the public during the whole election process.”
He stressed that Alur King, His Majesty Philip Olarker Rauni III, is a father to everyone regardless of party and stays neutral, adding that, the Kingdom does not back, favor, or support any candidate and remains non-partisan as required by Uganda’s Constitution.
The Kingdom asked candidates and supporters to follow Alur values: show respect, live in peace, reject violence, and avoid insults in words, actions, or songs, as It wished all candidates safe and successful campaigns.
The call comes as some of the 14 candidates from various parties and independents begin grassroots campaigns, while others prepare to start soon.
During his 15th coronation anniversary at Kyambogo Playground in Paidha, the King told leaders to “keep maximum peace and unity and avoid abusive language.” He added that ” the Kingdom will work with whoever voters choose”
The appeal aims to cool tensions in greater Nebbi, where rival supporters show clear division and hostility.
Zombo Returning Officer Emmanuel Ogwang, in a recent meeting with candidates at Paidha cultural center, Paidha town Council, urged them to control supporters and prevent chaos, noting that many followers obey only their leaders.
Campaigns are now active district-wide, with candidates pushing for the January 15 vote to secure seats in Uganda’s 12th Parliament and other posts for the next five years.
