Covid-19 In Parliament? All MPs To Undergo Mandatory Screening

Ultimate News can reliably report that all Ugandan members of parliament and staff at the national assembly are set to undergo mandatory screening for Covid-19 starting tomorrow 16th July 2020.

While opening today’s plenary, Speaker of parliament informed the house that Ministry of Health will commence screening of all MPs and staff effective Thursday 16th July. This comes at a time when inside sources say one Female member of parliament allegedly tested positive of Covid-19 which has left many at parliament scared.

This development comes at the backdrop of legislators demanding that Health minister Dr. Jane Ruth Acheng be subjected to disciplinary action after holding political rallies last weekend without observing any of the health procedures especially face masks, social distancing which she has been preaching in the health campaigns dubbed ‘Tonsembelela’. And in her reaction to this matter, Speaker Kadaga summoned Ministers Dr Jane Ruth Acheng and Benny Namugwanya to appear before parliament to clarify on the conduct.
