As NRM delegates vote regional chairpersons on Wednesday, Buganda kingdom through its CBS mouth piece has reminded the country of its willingness to closely work with NRM and all other parties for the development and good of Kabaka’s people.
But their condition is clear that for NRM to strengthen the good relationship existing since Mayiga became Katikkiro, the person delegates at Kololo elect to head NRM in the central region has to be someone known to respect Buganda and recognize Ronald Mutebi as the king or Kabaka.
NRM has cadres running for central region including Godfrey Kiwanda, Joseph Mukasa Sewava, Haruna Kasolo and Moses Karangwa who Mengo officials have shown openly hostility towards because they say he believes in Capt. Baker Kimeze Ssabanyara who challenges Kabaka’s authority over his Kayunga-Bugerere county.
Mengo bosses have made it clear that Karangwa will only be recognized as an elected leader for anything at Bulange if he denounces Ssabanyara and recognizes Mutebi as the boss for Kayunga-Bugerere.
Yet this is a condition Karangwa, who is naturally a stubborn man, hasn’t been willing to comply with. This simply means more complicated relations will prevail should Karangwa become the new NRM chairman for Buganda.
