BUGINGO SHOOTING: Ssenkubuge And His Inverted Version Of The Story

The Pastor's Hand Injured and Not Injured

As details continue unfolding the shooting incident of Pastor Aloysious Bugingo of House Of Prayer Ministries International, Ugandans have expressed concern over the uncoordinated and contradicting recounts of the attempt on the city pastor.

We yesterday published about a voice that gave instructions to pastor Bugingo during and after the incident. This was revealed by his Salt Tv Manager Charles Ssenkubuge Siasa a known actor and dramatist. Ssenkubuge reveals how God’s voice told Bugingo to pull the hand brake, to lie under the steering and also the same voice told him to drive to Mulago hospital.

In the video that’s already making rounds on Social Media, Ssenkubuge says his boss Bugingo told him that a bullet slit his back and there’s an open wound which the doctors said would treat slowly slowly and the operation come after. He also says another bullet affected the pastor’s hand and it’s injured.

However, the reality seems to be in inverted commas as people visiting the pastor as his swanky Namayumba mission are seen hugging pastor Bugingo and even freely touching his back without him complaining of any pain, something which proves there’s no open injury in the back as alleged by Ssenkubuge. Even the hand which was seen in the first picture of Pastor Bugingo in hospital with a bandage now looks fine without any injury.

What is also puzzling is how the pastor’s car was seen at the scene of crime cordoned off but the pastor ended up driving the bullet riddled monster to Mulago hospital and police only picked it from to take it to the Naguru where forensics and ballistic experts are analyzing it.

The body of the slain body guard cum Church Elder Corporal Richard Muhumuza has been transported by UPDF to Ssembabule district where he will be laid to rest today afternoon. Police is yet to record a statement from pastor Bugingo who continues to receive visitors at his home who are coming to sympathize with him.

The day 2nd January 2024 is and will remain hard to be forgotten by the family of Lead pastor of House of Prayer Ministries International Aloysius Bugingo and the family of deceased Corporal Richard Muhumuza who succumbed to gunshot injuries.

Unlike the previous assassinations of high profile individuals since 2012, this particular incident of Bugingo is turning to be a bit hard for every one to understand because of the contradicting accounts of the incident. The news of his shooting was first shared by his friend Frank Gashumba.

One photo was shared indicating pastor Bugingo’s car parked at the crime of scene. However, according to a police statement released yesterday by KMP deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire, immediately after the shooting, pastor Bugingo drove the car to Mulago hospital and upon arrival, his bodyguard was pronounced dead.

The pastor was discharged that very night and by yesterday morning, people were thronging his swanky mansion in Namayumba Wakiso district to check on him. While the pastor hasn’t yet given his recount of the story fully to the public. Seems he confided in his Salt TV boss Charles Ssenkubuge who has narrated what the man of God told him.

According to Ssenkubuge, pastor Bugingo was under the instruction of God’s voice which told him what to do during the incident.

“He says nothing else but God who told him the instructions, God told him get away from there and immediately after hearing the voice, Bugingo turned away protecting his heart and the bullet hit and slit his back. Ssenkubuge says the same voice continued instructing Bugingo, the same voice instructed him not to move an inch while in the car such that the assailants think he’s dead and he indeed exactly that”- Says Ssenkubuge.

According to the Salt Media Manager, his boss while still hiding under the car’s steering as the assailants continued showering the duo with bullets, the same voice continued to tell him not to move an inch and he remained under the steering.

“After three minutes, then God’s voice instructed Bugingo to start the car and go to Mulago”-Ssenkubuge further says.

According to Ssenkubuge, he says the pastor’s hand was injured and a bullet slit and opened his back but latest pictures seen of pastor Bugingo he was seen putting on a short sleeved shirt without an injury on the and was seen before in the hospital pictures released.

It also happens that the pastor has been the security of the Special Forces Command SFC and the deceased has been guarding him for close to 10 months.

It’s still puzzling how the pastor was able to stop the car by himself, not terribly shocked, he drove the car by himself to Mulago hospital which is almost 7 Kilometers away, adding more questions to the puzzle, Why did pastor Bugingo chose to drive to Mulago instead of Nansana, Why Was he discharged from the hospital at night, How did he leave the hospital that night after police had towed away his bullet riddled car, why haven’t police taken a statement from him?

Yesterday evening, unknown assailants shot at pastor Bugingo’s vehicle which was ferrying him back home from work. He was being driven by his driver/aide identified as Corporal Richard Muhumuuza who is an SFC soldier deployed to work with pastor Bugingo.

Bugingo miraculously survived the bullets and sustained injuries but his aide Muhumuza Richard succumbed to injuries and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mulago hospital.

A police statement issued by Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigile revealed that the assailants escaped on a motor bike something similar with the previous shootings, that Bugingo despite sustaining injuries drove himself to Mulago hospital. He also revealed that police has cast their nets wide to capture the perpetrators and bring them to book.

The assassination attempt against pastor Bugingo has left many people shocked and with cold feet wondering how some one can harbor ill-motives to hurt or even kill pastor Bujingo. Such assassinations have always been attributed to the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) by president Museveni who normally call them pigs.

After being discharged from Mulago hospital while at his home in Namayumba, Wakiso District, Bugingo has opened up on the incident and thanked God for giving him another chance to live. He also says it’s unfortunate that the church elder who was chauffeuring him was called by God in the situation.

Praise God dear brothers, I am alive and thanks for your prayers. I request you to continue praying for our church elder, Richard Muhumuza who was immediately called by the Lord. They have also sent sent medical personnel who have given me more treatment, the situation now is not worrying but God has given me a second chance”-Bugingo Remarked.

Police has spoken out about the incident of an attempted assassination of House of prayer ministries international Pastor Aloysius Bugingo. Unknown assailants showered bullets at his vehicle while was heading back home at around 11:30pm in Namungoona, a Kampala suburb.

In the police statement issued by the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire new details have emerged; the assailant escaped on a motor cycle similar to the previous assassination incidents, Pastor Bugingo drove himself to Mulago hospital despite sustaining injuries, Richard Muhummuza was pronounced dead upon arrival at hospital, the scene of crime was tampered with, police is reviewing CCTV footages to identify the killers.

We publish the police statement below verbatim;

The Old Kampala Police are currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into a tragic incident involving the attempted murder of Pastor Alloysious Bugingo from the House of Prayer Ministry and the unfortunate killing of his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard. At approximately 9 PM on January 2nd, 2024, unidentified assailants opened fire on Pastor Bugingo’s vehicle, registered as PRAIZ GOD, along Namungona , Zone 2 , kasubi Rubaga Division Kampala at Bwalakata Junction along National Housing Road , before swiftly escaping the scene on a motorcycle.

Despite sustaining injuries during the attack, Pastor Aloysious Bugingo managed to transport the vehicle to Mulago Hospital. Regrettably, his bodyguard, Muhumuza Richard, succumbed to the assault and was confirmed dead upon arrival at the hospital. Currently, Pastor Bugingo is undergoing medical treatment and is under close monitoring.

Upon an immediate response to the incident, the police discovered that the scene had been tampered with. Statements from eyewitnesses have been diligently recorded, and the deceased’s body has been conveyed to the City Mortuary at Mulago for a thorough postmortem examination.

In our active pursuit of justice, we are thoroughly reviewing CCTV footage to identify the assailants. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.

It’s still shocking that unknown gunmen made an assassination attempt on House Of Prayer Ministries International Pastor Aloysious Bugingo as he was heading home.

Bugingo survived the bullets but his driver only identified as Richard unfortunately didn’t survive. The Salt Media boss was immediately rushed to Mulago Hospital in critical condition where he’s currently receiving treatment from but those who have talked to him him contend that he’s now in a stable condition.

The incident took place near Total Petrol Station in Namungoona, Wakiso district. His assassination attempts is one of those that have claimed lives of many especially government officials and Muslim clerics.

He’s an ardent supporter of president Museveni but also normally rallies Ugandans to support Museveni’s son Gen Muhoozi Keinerugaba as he throws jibes and criticism on the opposition especially Bobi Wine who also in 2018 lost his driver Yasin Kawuma after UPDF soldiers shot him in the Arua Fracas.

As usual and like before, police has spread the nets wide in the investigation to bring the perpetrators to book as we wait for the pastor who is still in shock to narrate his version of the story.

In the past, drivers have normally died together with their bosses like it was the case with Andrew Felix Kawesi whose body guard and driver were killed, Yasin Kawuma Bobi Wine’s driver died, Minister Katumba Wamala’s driver Haruna Kayondo died instantly as gunmen rained bullets on the minister’s car on 1st June 2021.

In November 2016, Major Muhammed Kigundu who was a husband to famous traditionalist Mama Fina was shot dead by unknown gunmen together with his driver who was only identified as Sgt Mukasa. In June 2018, the then Arua Municipality legislator Ibrahim Abiriga was shot dead together with his body guard in Kawanda.

Most of these shootings have been attributed to the Allied Democratic forces (ADF) by president Museveni who normally call them pigs

Pastor Bujingo Aloysius of House of Prayer Ministries International and the proprietor of Salt Media has survived an assassination attempt in areas of Nansana as he was heading home at around 11:30pm.

The vocal pastor was being driven by his driver whose name is yet to be revealed who died on spot. Bujingo was rushed to Mulago hospital but reports indicate he’s now in a stable condition.

Over the years, many people have been shot dead by unknown assailants and president Museveni and all the security circles have always attributed this to the DR Congo-based armed group the ADF.

The last prominent Ugandan to survive an assassination attempt is Works Minister Katumba Wamala who was shot at, but his driver and daughter didn’t survive on 1st June 2021. Last year Minister Charles Okello Engola was shot by his driver Pte Wilson Sabiiti who also later killed himself. Days later, vocal blogger Tusubira Isma alias Isma Olaxes was killed in the areas of Kyanja.

BREAKING NEWS: Scores Feared Dead As Another UPDF Chopper Crashes

In the news this evening, a chopper belonging to the Uganda People’s Defense Forces has crashed in Fort Portal.

This accident comes at the backdrop of another military spy chopper which crashed in Kasese on 29th December 2023.

Available information reveal that the helicopter crashed in Karugutu in Ntoroko district. It was heading to Congo after taking off from Ssaka airfield in Kichwamba sub-county.

Eye witnesses who preferred not to be named to speak freely say it the chopper first hit a house roof which forced to down down in frames and reduced to ashes. It’s not yet clear, how many people were on board and the causalities.

UPDF together with the Congolese army launched both ground and aerial assault operations against the Allied Defense Forces (ADF) who have launched quite several attacks on Uganda last year. They are based in Eastern Congo; an area they’ve occupied since mid 1990s.

The Army is yet to speak about the incident but it has lost over 8 Choppers in the last 3 years to accidents.

One of these brave netizen goes by the names Ashaba Cythia who blatantly told off Lydia Jazmine to be mindful of what photos she attaches to specific posts. Like for this particular one, she suggests they would have been good for a breast cancer awareness campaign but not to thank her creator.

In her post, Jazmine looks back at the past year and is grateful to how far God has brought her and she says she can’t thank her fans enough for uplifting her brand, loving her music which she attributes to how her sing her songs line by line.

She’s set to hold her anticipated maiden concert this year on 1st March 2023 at Hotel Africana but faces an uphill task to bring numbers to fill the concert venue and post the challenge to other female artists who are yet to hold concerts.

Uganda migrated from the analogue to digital television systems some years back. This meant Ugandans would start paying for the services and content they watch on their preferred TV channels.

As the migration became a reality, many pay tv companies came to Uganda to give digital platforms for Television stations to carry their content to get to the viewers. Among these include Multi-Choice with Gotv and DSTV which had been in the industry for over 15 years, Star times, Azam TV and Zuku.

Despite presence of other players however, the market is dominated by only two companies; Chinese owned Star times and South Africa’s Multi-Choice which is the giant in Uganda. These set the industry tactics like how MTN and Airtel enjoy there telecommunications duopoly.

Now for the better part of the last two weeks, viewers of Nation Media’s NTV and Spark TV have faced several challenges in accessing the two stations via Star times, to some the channels are off, some only see the pictures without sound and the paytv company is yet to come out to explain the anomaly.

Going on his Twitter account, NTV journalist Sudhir Byaruhanga has hit at Star Times claiming the platform is doing it intentionally to their TV stations. Going to the comment section, several viewers are saying even on free to air, the channel is off.

In Busoga, a one prophet (Nabbi) Daudi of the Universal Apostle’s Fellowship Church Of Righteousness is known to have told his followers to sell their pieces of land, bring him the cash so that he buys for them pieces of land in heaven of the same amount of money.

Nabbi Daudi has also in several videos been seen flogging and caning his followers some for not coming for prayers while on a different occasion for bringing little offertory and he canes both young and old as a punishment in the church.

Now there’s this yet to be identified pastor who is trending on line and has left people speaking after what he told his followers to do. The pastor set apart his legs and made his followers to pass through them while kneeling and crawling.

In Kenya, a pastor in Malindi at the coast forced his believers to fast and die so that they can meet Jesus face to face. This happened for quite some time and by the time the authorities got to know about it, over 350 people had died and buried in shallow graves in the Shakahola forest.

Authorities retrieved 429 bodies of Pastor Paul Nthenge Mackenzie of Good News International ministries who now according to reports is facing two years in jail.

In Uganda in the early 2000s, a pastor named Joseph Kibwetele of the Movement for the Restoration of the Ten Commandments of God, a group that had splintered from the Catholic Church in Uganda and became infamous after 778 of it’s members were found dead.

The horrible incident that remains fresh in the minds of Ugandans took place 23 years ago in South-Western Uganda’s Kanungu district, they were locked inside a Church, with the doors and windows nailed shut from the outside. It was then set on fire by the church’s leader.

Experts say, with the mushrooming churches almost everywhere, Uganda in particular sits on a time bomb if they’re not regulated. URA has since announced plans to go and tax their tithe collections.
