National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi wine is currently appearing before the Iganga magistrate’s court for mention of his case alongside other party leaders who were arrested.
Bobi wine was arrested from Luuka as he attempted to address his supporters in Luuka district on counts connected to violation of the Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and the Electoral commission guidelines.
His arrest sparked riots across major towns in Uganda like Iganga, Jinja, Kampala CBD and Metropolitan, Masaka, Mbale, Mityana, Busia among others. Several presidential candidates led by Norbert Mao convened a meeting to address the issues at hand and some have since suspended their campaigns in solidarity for Bobi wine.
This is a developing story and we await to see if Bobi wine will be granted bail or remanded. He’s appearing in court alongside several NUP leaders including Pastor Andrew Muwanguzi, Muhammad Ssegirinya alias Mr. Updates, Lord Mayoral candidate Nabillah Nagayi Ssempala among others.
