The government of the republic of Uganda headed by president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa has declared tomorrow 28th June 2023 as a public holiday.
In an announcement to the public signed by Kaima Godfrey for the permanent Secretary ministry of public service, the day is declared for Muslims to celebrate Eid-Al-Adhuha (Festival of sacrifice).

“The Honorable Minister of Public Service informs the general public that Wednesday 28th June 2023 is Eid-Al-Adhuha (‘Festival of Sacrifice’) and will be observed as a public holiday through out Uganda”- reads part of the announcement
The day is also used to mark the culmination of the annual pilgrimage to Mecca, the holiest city for Muslims which is a mandatory religious duty for the faithful and must be carried out at least once in one’s lifetime by an adult Muslim.
