Jemimah Muthoni who lives in Babadogo Nairobi and does her sex trade in the CBD, said that most daytime prostitutes are older women who can’t be away from their families at night and so have to make a living during the day. This made it hard for the younger prostitutes to get a market. She recalls one day how her work money was taken from her by her elder prostitutes for trading at day time.
She said her colleagues “have children and that’s why they did what they had to do. I don’t think there is any woman who can wish to be a Sh200 per session prostitute during the day if they have supportive husbands. It’s all for money.”
She said that no woman can sell herself to strange men if she has a responsible husband. It’s the “irresponsibility of the men that drive such women to the streets,” she narrated.
The older married hookers would give way to younger and more beautiful ‘night nurses’ from 8pm. Muthoni said that bumping into someone familiar could not stop them from selling their bodies.
“If I had a husband and a good job, I would never bother myself into that bad gig. I had bills to pay and other money oriented needs. This was the only way I would pay my rent. But it was indeed a rogue way,” she added.
As she said, she finally left the gig after she was helped by a herbal man she met on social media. At first she thought it was a lame joke that this herbal man Dr Mugwenu would solve her woes. She met him at his offices where she got offered successful marriage spells. Special cleansing were also done to her to prepare her to a marriage life from being a night nurse. Muthoni got a good loving and working class man. Her husband later opened her a business which she operates at the CBD.
