Last week, a Makindye based club ordered a WhatsApp group Administrator to reinstate a member who was reportedly ejected without his consent. The affected WhatsApp group member is Herbert Baitwababo.
Giving delivering his ruling last week, Acting Senior Grade One Magistrate at Makindye Magistrate’s Court in Kampala Igga Adiru ordered Allan Asinguza the group admin who was the respondent in the case to add the Claimant Herbert Baitwababo to BUYANJA ROOTS WhatsApp group on which he was a member before.

“A permanent injunction doth issue restraining the respondent, his agents and or his assignees from further infringing on the applicant’s right of association. No orders as to costs”-Adiru ruled in the absence of the respondent.
The applicant who in his support of this case stated that the respondent created a WhatsApp group for people from Buyanja Sub-county which was named BUYANJA MY ROOTS who purpose was for social contribution towards charity works, condolences, support to calamity victims.
“As members of the said WhatsApp groups, we development an idea of starting an association and agreed that one had to pay Shs30,000 only, to subscribe for the membership and such, i fully registered, reads part of Baitwababo’s affidavit

Sources reveal to this website that following a court order to add Baitwababo back to the WhatsApp group, the admin added him back, made him a group admin too which was good news to the applicant.
However, the bad news according to reports indicate that when the applicant was made an admin, all members left the group and formed another group and left him there alone something which may push him back to court seeking new orders of being added in the new group created or court orders all the members who left to return.
