Lady Justice Mary Stella Arach-Amoko died 11 days ago, judiciary had side with her husband Ambassador James Idule Amoko to burry her at his ancestral home in Adjumani district and preparations were made.
In a twist of events Arach’s children and siblings came out with guns blazing indicating that their mother on her death bed indicated very well where she wanted to be buried. This prompted them to run to court for a final decision.

Court would later urge the two worrying sides to mediate, the mediations were chaired by Lawyer Francis Gimara with Lawyer Raphael Baku while Martiall Alenyo represented the deceased’s Children. The mediation come out with a resolution that Lady Justice Arach-Amoko be buried in a neutral ground.
“The families have adopted a win-win spirit to resolve this matter as it is in the interest of both parties. We the representatives of both families met, discussed and agreed to receive the proposal from the family of Amb Amoko that the late Justice Stella Amoko Arachi be buried in a neutral place namely, Arua Catholic Cathedral cemetery”-a communication from the mediator read in part.

The resolution didn’t go well with the relatives of the deceased to instead resolved to proceed with the hearing in the high court Family division which has today made it’s ruling and ordered that the fallen justice be buried in Nebbi where she preferred to be buried contrary to Adjumani where her husband wanted to burry her.
In ruling issued today today justice Ketra Kitariisibwa Katunguka and seen by this publication, the judge agreed with the Children and ordered that the body of Arachi-Amoko be buried at Jukiya Hill Ward, Juba village in Nebbi district.
“The applicants be authorities be authorized to receive, transport, and burry the body of their mother, the late Hon. Justice Mary Stella Arach-Amoko at her family ancestral home/burial ground at Jukiya Hill ward, Juba Village, Nebbi district in accordance with the customary law of Ker Kwaro Kaal Jona.”-reads part of the ruling.
If the husband’s family doesn’t appeal this ruling, the burial will go ahead and bring an end to the battle which has taken days and delayed the burial of Justice Amoko who had been on the supreme court bench for close to 10 years since 2013.
