The battle lines have so far been drawn between Orange Democratic Party (ODM) head Raila Odinga and Uhuru’s Deputy president Dr William Somoei Ruto who is pushing the bottom Up economy agenda under the Kenya Kwanza alliance boasting with top politicians Moses Wetangula and Musalia Mudavadi.
Ruto took a separate path from his political friend Uhuru Kenyatta in 2018 after the president engaged in a famous handshake deal with his opponent Raila Odinga a move that was aimed at creating unity among Kenyans. The two politicians after the deal said Kenya is bigger than them and they saw no reason why the country is divided just for their own interests.
This angered Uhuru’s deputy who called it hypocrisy and started taking a different line and has never looked back, he ditched his political party Jubilee which brought him in power and started his own party which he named United Democratic Alliance UDA.
Nominations are set for May but what you should just be sure of is that it’s a battle of the titans.
